I'm currently on orders for Korea this summer and have been putting off a much-needed surgery that could ultimately put me out the army. (1) Does anyone have experience of a MEB in Korea? <br /><br />I have a necrotic scaphoid fracture that failed it's last surgery 2 years ago and has been giving me pain ever since. At this point I'm looking at a bone removal or a wrist fusion. (2) Would this even be a surgery I could get while in Korea? Is it possible to MEB out of Korea?2020-05-23T05:25:29-04:00SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member5925185<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Two questions. If it ends in an MEB, it ends in an MEB. Go get the surgery and get as much quality of,life back as you can.<br /><br />Korea may not have medical capabilities to do this.Response by LTC Jason Mackay made May 23 at 2020 1:40 PM2020-05-23T13:40:58-04:002020-05-23T13:40:58-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5926711<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You would have to medically be cleared to even PCS to Korea. Take care of you first!! Everyone in the Army can be replaced on the job or position, however, you as an individual cannot be replaced to your love ones. <br />Waiting to have your surgery makes whatever is going on with you worse. Don’t put yourself in a position where you’re being told “if you would have fame in sooner you would have had a better outcome”. Take care of yourself, whatever is meant for YOU will be for YOU!!!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 23 at 2020 2:18 PM2020-05-23T14:18:52-04:002020-05-23T14:18:52-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5927152<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you are referred to MEB now, your orders will get deleted. If you need surgery in Korea and they don’t have the facilities, you will be sent to Hawaii for itResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 23 at 2020 5:07 PM2020-05-23T17:07:32-04:002020-05-23T17:07:32-04:00SFC James Cameron5927173<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>From personal experience, fighting a MEB can make the retirement and disability process take longer than necessary and cause the need for re-evaluation later. Anything less than 30% all depending how many years you have, will either be a servance pay or nothing but thank you for your service.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 24 at 2020 8:34 PM2020-05-24T20:34:56-04:002020-05-24T20:34:56-04:002020-05-23T05:25:29-04:00
