And I doubt they would retroactively recall him posthumously for this.... So, AR 600-8-22, Sect. 3-3, Personnel Eligability, this section actually does not have anything that specifically pertains to retired service members. It does state that certain awards may be given to civilians if signed off by the Secretary of the Army, however these awards are for civilians serving in a combat zone.<br /><br />I do believe that there are civilian awards that can be issued in this case. I will look them up and get that info to you. They aren&#39;t civilians. I&#39;m sure it would be complicated, but they&#39;re still eligible for military awards.<br /><br />Approval authority is the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC), 1 Archives Drive, St. Louis, MO 63138–1002.
