Is it possible to transfer from active duty to NG if I’m still under my current contract? I just graduated OSUT (11b) and am at my unit. Is this common for soldiers to do? Should I just wait out my contract and then go guard? I wanted to go guard in the first place but didn’t realize I could join a surrounding states guard, since my state did not have the mos I wanted.

You cannot be released from active duty early to the Guard. When you go through SFL-TAP, one appointment is with the Reserve Component Career Counselor, who can contract you into any Guard or Reserve unit up to six month prior to your ETS. That contract starts on the day after your ETS.
You will be a better Guard Soldier for your active duty experience.

Not very likely, till your contract is up. As for NG in other states, keep in mind travel time to drills.

you're going to have to wait out your contract. take advantage of your active duty time and use tuition assistance to knock out some college or trade classes. active duty is also great time to hone your 11b skills.
