Is it possible to transition from the Retired Reserve to the Ready Reserve? How long is the process?

I took a retirement last August and have decided that I miss the time I had in uniform. Any advice on how to shorten the process would be appreciated.

Merely a thought I just wondered if you might consider the state defense forces or USCG auxiliary or civil air patrol (CAP) I only mention it as many retirees ID read often are able to contribute that way quite seriously just a thought look at http://www.sgaus.org you might find that of interest the SDFs are very real militaries though state level you likely know of them I'd expect merely a suggestion obviously.

To my knowledge you just need to contact a Victor and he will give you some options. I retired August 1st 2015 and by October I had a retentions NCO (victor) calling me about possible options if I wanted to come back.

If you transitioned to the retired reserve because you hit your mandatory retirement date (MRD) there would probably need to be a legislative change to call you back to active status SGT Edward Wilcox. The exceptions would be if their was a national Mobilization similar to the WWII call up or if you had a skill that is in short supply and high demand.

It happens fairly often, actually. As stated elsewhere, you need to see a Career Counselor - most Reserve Centers have them) to get the ball rolling.
