A coworker told me he's reenlisting from AD Navy to Reserve and will be given an extra $2,000 a month for being a full time student. I asked if he's talking about the GI Bill. He said no. Does that opportunity really exist or maybe he's talking about the Montgomery? I will ask him if I see him again. I would like to hear your thoughts in the meantime, however. Thanks in advance!

He must be talking about some type of GI Bill, whether it be Montgomery or post 911, they all work the same. They provide you with a monthly sum of money while you go to school.

Reenlistment bonuses do not work the way your friend explained. Depending on the amount of money they can be a one time payment or spread out over several years for large bonuses. But they usually don't get paid monthly.
