I am about to go to AGR recruiting school here in the next couple of months. I am the type of person that like to plan the all important next step. After three years of recruiting, would going warrant still be worth it? Are there Recruiter Warrant officers? Just looking for advice, and yes, before anyone tells me, I know that nothing ever works out the way we plan it.

It is ALWAYS worth it to go Warrant. There is absolutely NO GOOD EXCUSE not to at least put in a packet. I constantly hear people tell me how they would have but they were already an E7 or already had XX years in. Before you weigh the pros and cons of your current job/responsibilities versus what you'd be doing as a Warrant Officer, put a packet together, make the list, then decide if its really want you want to do. If you never submitted a packet, you were never any closer to being a WO than a private fresh out of basic.

Do the packets expire? For example if I was going to put one in now, would it still be good three years from now?

Most of the stuff would not expire. Some things would. LOR from a commander would only work for that commander. Letters from senior warrants might work even after that warrant has PCSd or retired, but you'd probably want to get an additional letter that is more recent after 3 years. I don't remember what all was required for my packet as I did it in 2002. I'm sure some items have changed. A senior ammo warrant will help guide you.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - You would need to update your packet. It does not expire but you will need to update your resume, personal data, letters, physicals, and anything with an old date or dated signature on it. Submitting an old packet will not pass your proponent.

I have twelve years in the Army as enlisted and I recently went Green to Gold. I will commission as a 2LT in May. My advice it to think about your future and if you will be happy in the next 10-20 years if you stay enlisted. Everyone has their own goals and qualities they can bring to different parts of the Army. I would just look to the future and not the past. Good Luck!

I'm not aware of recruiting warrants. However, with an ordnance background, you'd be an ideal candidate for an ordnance warrant position. You should definitely put in the packet.

There are warrants who deal strictly with recruiting, but they are typically farmed out from the existing pool of jobs and are normally CW3 and up. I'm unsure if this is something the OP would want to try for though.
