Is it wrong to request for care packages? I have continued to ask my family and have yet to get one.

Oh hun!! Most definitely NOT wrong! Though, if you ask my soldier daughter (also at Ft. Campbell), I sent her TOO many care packages when they were deployed last year. LOL!
I hope that you get many many care packages & if you like, I can give your address to the Military Mama Network on Facebook & get y'all overwhelmed with packages!

Nothing wrong with asking for care packages. There are a lot of people and organizations that send care packages to troops over seas

Is nothing wrong, If i were deployed, i want all the care package as possible, it could be some family picture or home food or anything that it not available where you deployed. And the reason for your family take long time it because they prob busy, just call when you have time and let them know.

Mail is competing against mortar ammunition, bottled water, and everything else people need to not be dead. As a Support Operations Officer it was extremely frustrating to wade through all these oversized boxes of stuff (any soldier mail, not mail for specific people). I was trying to max out distribution assets. I always had more stuff than Trans to move it. Then the Postal Det shows up with a 20 footer that needs to go somewhere that I resupply exclusively by air (sling load, internal, LCLA, or JPADS) because it is built in the crag of a mountain that goats can't get to. As you are in TF No Mercy, you can see that cargo space is tight and there are more AMRs than there are birds.

If there is something specific you need and your family isn't helping. Try http://www.drugstore.com. I know many who used it in Afghanistan. They ship to APO.

As for something personal, I will tell you that we are all proud of you for doing the job that needs to be done. Be safe and give'em hell!

If you are state side or in a civilized non deployment area, then you can ask but I am sure there are plenty of stores near for you to shop at. Far as care packages if you ask and you are yet to receive then get an Amazon account and start ordering stuff. That is what I did.

Be careful what you ask for because there's so much heart on this site you'll have a bounty to share with your shipmates.

In the dark ages in Antarctica, small packages had a problem making it because there's a US Carrier only requirement on US Mail, hence Air New Zealand couldn't carry it. So the stuff would pile up at United, Northwest, or whatever. The wives figured it out and started packing a piece of loosely wrapped stinky cheese near the top of the box and had everything else wrapped well in plastic. Amazing how that cured the constipation. We'd open the boxes outside to quickly ditch the cheese and outer box.

Stuff came rolling through along with a request from the airlines to hold the cheese.

No I would ask if there are things you can not get.
I would get packages and then send packages with chocolate and other specialty items while in Germany.

I sent a ton of stuff home while on TDY in Japan.

It's not wrong to want a little tast of home. I can recall eating out of the dining facility and the food did not taste right. I asked my family to send me some "Tony Chachere" seasoning which I got, and it was great. This was moral boost for me. The rest of my guys started getting care packages from home. This lead to our unit being so close together that getting done with a mission was key. Our down time was shareing items from home that made our tour easy. My advise to you is to build your team up by sharing a care package from home.

We used to get requests from groups asking us what we could use. I would reply with some of the items the soldiers requested and we would get 30-40 boxes! Ask!!! People want to help

Absolutely not. I wrote to adoptaplatoon, blanketsofbeliefs, Callaway, etc. I did this because I knew some of my Soldiers would probably not receive any packages. So I wrote and received and shared it with my Soldiers. They felt cared for and I think it was a way to bring us closer as a group too as we all shared packages. There were a few who never got a postcard, but as a leader and a fellow Soldier it was my honor to ensure that they were taken care of. We are all battle buddies regardless of rank. I also ensures to write a thank you note to everyone who sent a package to let them know it was received and greatly appreciated. Sometimes we even flew a flag in their honor folded it and mailed it to them with a certificate of authenticity. They loved that.

Personally, no. I do not believe it is wrong for all y'all who are down range to request care packages. You're in some of the worst places to be. It is never wrong, in my opinion, to request something to boost your morale.

Of course not! Anyone tells you otherwise needs a.... well you get where I am going. On serous note: Never wrong! I have met military personnel that were complete strangers who I met in airports travelling and I told them send me their address and I'll send em' out.
Also, there are churches and groups in almost every major city that watches out for us over there with care packages. All ya gotta do is ask.

Check w your hometown groups like the VFW or even the school you attended as a child. They enjoy projects like that and may be better than family about sending you stuff. And the cards from kids are awesome. I can't remember any word for word but things like, "Can you come reed to r class if you alive? " and "Im sad you miss yor family. My cusin jesse lives in tenesee."

If you ask for my humble opinion, then I will tell you I did not give a flying fk while I was down range, since I was too busy for any of it. However I got two care packages out of nowhere, and one of the came with Sony PSP and several games for it. So.... that kind of surprised me.

I gave it away to some random 11b from 1st ID, which came to relieve us before going back home.

There is nothing wrong with asking your family and friends to show some support for what you do. It's sad that you have to ask.

I keep an open invitation to every Soldier I meet and stay in contact with that if ever deployed all they would have to do is send an address and I would make sure they received something.

There are a few non-profit groups that are always looking for names and addresses to send care packages to as well. You should not be the only Soldier deployed not getting mail, no matter where it comes from.

Send me and/or some of these other people your address and you will be flooded with support.

I don't know were to start. When the Gulf war started a person wrote to Dear Abbey asking people to write to the men and women fighting in the Gulf. He response was to have people send a letter addressed Dear Soldier. In the weeks to come we were bombarded with letters and care packages. Hotel chains sent pallets of shampoo and soap. We hand gotten enough books to start a library. I also made lasting friends.

We will send a care packages to any deployed soldiers all we need is an email to [login to see] include the soldier's name and APO/FPO and we'll get it sent asap!!
