Is my Navy PDQ going to mess up my Army enlistment? After the consult I requested a switch to the Navy because the Navy recruiter told me he could get things done faster and he said I was almost gaurenteed my waiver. The Army recruiter said my profile had never been taken down so my paperwork was still in the works for an Army waiver.

I had a DoDMERB waiver from ROTC before I decided to enlist for the same things I need one now. Which is Myopia over 8 diopters. The consult cleared well no diseases or anything, just poor vision. Totally correctable to 20/20 might I add.

Anyway I was wondering is my Navy PDQ is going mess things up? Will the DoDMERB waiver help things? If all else fail go to the guard for a waiver. You can take your approval paperwork to MEPS and they will just throw it away so it doesn’t mean $hit. Been there, done that. MEPS is the single process for all services. They all go through the same people until it gets touted to get the final approval by the service. If you want to join you might as well let the process continue and see what the Army says. Usually as long as your corrected to 20/20 it’s not a problem. I’ve got a couple of medically screwed up kids (concussions, busted out teeth, screws in shoulders, wondering eyes, displaced hips) we work hard and play even harder! Got them both through DODMERB and MEPS. Now one got denied flight school cause of the shape of her eyes but other than that they are both good for all other jobs. No mental or ADHD issues. But everything is waiverable in the Army. The Army might give you a waiver if it's easily corrected.
Have you considered LASIC surgery?
