We just had a revamp on our DFAC and man it is amazing!! We have people getting food to-go all the time. Actually when they are making it, the chefs ask if it is "for here or to-go".Response by TSgt Melissa Post made Sep 2 at 2016 10:29 AM2016-09-02T10:29:12-04:002016-09-02T10:29:12-04:00Capt Private RallyPoint Member1857542<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You can usually get a to-go box at the MCRD chow halls or at the very least take a piece of fruit. I haven't seen anyone do anything other than that. Our chow halls here are run by Sodexo. Reminds me of my tour in Korea 91-92. Signs in the DFAC everywhere that you couldn't take anything to go. You couldn't even go back for seconds! The Mess Sgt would watch you like a hawk to make sure you didn't take too much from the self serve area (salad, fruit, cereal, etc.), or try to sneak back in the main line for seconds. Yet after closing you would see the Korean Civilian kitchen workers taking home tons of leftovers out the back door and that was OK.Response by SFC J Fullerton made Sep 2 at 2016 11:54 AM2016-09-02T11:54:27-04:002016-09-02T11:54:27-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1857870<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sir, just type up a MFR stating that you get to take an extra apple and cheese crackers from the DFAC everyday.... problem solved!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 2 at 2016 12:11 PM2016-09-02T12:11:00-04:002016-09-02T12:11:00-04:00SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member1858037<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Well Sir, Since you are not in BCT im sure you can get away with taking a snack out of the dfac. A Sr.A that's works at a DFAC here at Hickam AFB in Hawaii, said SM that grab and go is a win for them. Less trash and less clean up. Also it opens up seats for people who really just want to take there lunch in somewhere away from work. It has to do with a warrior ethos and maintaining a place where all are equal. Like the Spartan's mess hall, above the exit was a sign that read "through this door, nothing." Everyone eats and must eat here, forced commeraderie.Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2016 8:50 PM2016-09-09T20:50:37-04:002016-09-09T20:50:37-04:00SSgt Boyd Herrst3962126<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think the idea of sanitation.. somebody puts remainder of snaack in desk and gets busy and forgets it.. them little creatures come out and feed and multiply.. not.
