Is the appointment of the 2nd Army Staff Senior Warrant Officer a progressive talent management move or a setback?

The CSA selection for the next Army Staff Senior Warrant Officer (ARSTAF SWO) is CW4 Billy L. Frittz. He is the CSA Assistant Executive Officer (AXO) and will serve concurrently as the ARSTAF SWO and advocate for Warrant Officers on behalf of the Army Senior Warrant Officer Council (ASWOC). He will work closely with the ASWOC to advise the CSA on the training, military and civilian education.

The whole question is moot. We need a CWOA, just as we have a SMA, and that CWOA needs to have the same type of portfolio for Warrant Officers as the SMA has for enlisted soldiers. Otherwise, what's the point?

I am not sure the CSA realized how this appeared. It's one thing to appoint CW4's to CCWO positions (where they would get their CW5), but this is supposed to be the top warrant position in the Army. I mean the position should be worthy of at least an existing CW5 (in my opinion), just like you wouldn't make an E8 the SMA. Additionally this makes it look like he is either picking some random CW4 or someone who he is "friends" with. I get that the CSA may want someone he can trust, but doing this seems like a slap in the face to every other qualified CW5 in the force. Hopefully our CW5's out there are voicing their concern on this, however, the CSA does not seem like someone who will easily change his mind once his decision has been made.

Time will tell I guess. However, every unit seems to have a Command Master Chief (Read Command Sergeant Major, or whatever rank). Is turning the services into PC groups like so much of society since the Obama Administration?

Never needed cw5. I was the senior cw4 in Europe before cw5. I declined to go to USAREUR g4. It made cw4 Cletus Jernnigan upset because I out ranked him.
