At a early age you have only 1 view you and that 1 next guy in a khaki the officer type the CO XO etc gods from another planet who have all the answers and could blamed for every failure.

You are unaware at the time the level of bureaucracy and leadership and creation of commands and operational conditions and budget cuts during downsizing or all the other parameters actually create s scenario on the unit level that is breaking everyone as the leaders are in fact just human as well and it rolls down hill when you are 18 e1 just starting out

SSG Bill McCoy - It is understood at the minimum my expectation of the 1SG is to monitor the PSGs, who will monitor the SQLs, who will monitor E-5s, who will monitor the troops. Of course there is more to the monitoring, but those are minimum standards. This should shape the conditions for issues to rise to the top. In the case of the NCO who forced troops to work late unnecessarily, I expect his/her supervisor to correct the situation. There is no room for leaders to be ignorant and apathetic. That is not taking care of troops, that was abusing the troops.

I would get to the bottom of how the chain of command failed the soldiers.

It tells me the leaders were not doing their jobs monitoring subordinate leaders and there are leaders in the chain of command who don't give a damn about the troops. It makes me mad just thinking about this scenario. I have only gotten really pissed one time in my career, but in this situation I would want to administer some pain to the chain of command. Always, always take care of the troops. I would definitely go to JAG to see what kind of punishments I can mete out.

You have good leaders and bad leaders in the military and civilian world. You also have good and bad subordinates and good and bad people in general. Your job is to adapt and do the best job that you can. You have posted endless posts about how you were mistreated while in the military. Everyone knows that so why not stop posting the same information repeatedly?

I fall on my sword. Why do I post a lot on the same subjects? well lets see due some form of leadership, because everyone one is older then you, when you are 18 and graduate meritorious in bootcamp, next duty assignment the FFG, and due what was going on you attempt a Navy Army Transfer which is medically disqualified for 3 medical conditions at MEPS, and you are sent back to the ship, no medical treatments ever in service, get a honorable after finishing that 8 year enlistment, and within 3 months already in a psych hospital in San Diego in the homeless emergency room clinic, and suicide hospitals lost all my relationships, then fought the Oakland va that was being investigated by congress just to get a homeless housing voucher. I found out my dad was in fact an Army Infantry Soldier Vietnam 66-68 who could not raise me due his injuries in service, I found out his father my grandfather was ww2 Navy Battle of Guadacanal among others and I have his Cruise book now from the Use Radford

Nothing personal.

I wish I could tell a different story.

I don't think this is fun

But major depression is no joke and people do die and commit suicide

I choose to talk

but its probably true everyone here is better then me, stronger then me, more manly then me...I mean what can I say...

toxic leadership, bad va incompetence, soldiers sailors left homeless are probably terms and thoughts I made up

He was missing when I joined the navy.

SSG Bill McCoy - Every time I think I am making sense I get reminded I don't. I did not finish college as I dropped out as I could not concentrate, and was having panic attacks with that little gi bill.

Maybe this Navy Instruction and the Navy IG report referenced in it will be more understandable from 1998. Its sort of a shock to read when you find this in 2020

https://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/virtual_disk_library/index.cgi/3715654/FID863/SURFACE/50401a.PDF

1998 5040.1A

Subject: Reserve Administration and Training Evaluation (RATE) Program
4. Background
The Rate Program was initiated in response to Navy Inspector General report documenting systemic weakness in the training and administration of SELRES Personnel assigned to NRF Ships
SELRES Personnel assigned must be ready to mobilize on short notice and, as a result, be maintained at the highest state of readiness.”

I assume all the people referenced in the instruction and report were my leadership.

I was just 22 in 1998 had been on the NRF Ships for the start of 18. 1998. So basically 1998 is the same year I was permanently profiled medically disqualified for Spine Musculoskeletal and Psych by MEPS from transferring to the Army off these ships and I was sent back to the same ship without even a bandaid or follow up quesitonare like Hey Bud Are you OK?

So leadership the guys doing this investigating and commanding and medical stuff is my thought process and I look back and wonder why I ended up in psych hospitals and living in cars looking at the bright lights of Veterans Day homeless confused and broke and sad with a hurting back and then run into a big fight with the Oakland VA 2015 Headline News something you can still google whistleblower prompts OIG investigation uncovers gross negligence to even deny my a homeless housing voucher...
