I am asking because a SGT asked me if they were under regulation, and I wasn&#39;t sure because I don&#39;t know how the army defines &quot;Conservative&quot; eyeglasses. Is the Criss Optical MFG Mag-1 aka Buddy Holly glasses frame that was issued to me able to be worn in garrison environment? 2018-03-28T08:56:45-04:00 SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member 3489173 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They fit my face well and don&#39;t move around thanks to the included band and plastics. A good leader will look, read and tell you to drive on, a bad one will lose their minds, chew you out and turn it into the inquisition, buckle up and drive on :). The units don&#39;t always know the latest issue carp and there is an adjustment period, eventually they will move on to something else when the update loads in their heads :) Response by 1SG Dennis Hicks made Mar 28 at 2018 9:30 AM 2018-03-28T09:30:14-04:00 2018-03-28T09:30:14-04:00 PV2 Private RallyPoint Member 3489522 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If it was issued to you it should be wearable. Among our issued equipment prior to deployment was DCU boonie hats. However, when we arrived in the AOR we learned that the base commander was a Army General who hated boonie hats. He determined that the only authorized head gear inside the wire was a desert colored 8-point USMC hats without the globe and eagle. It was stupid as that hat didn’t protect your head as well as the boonie and wasn’t even AF regulation. But the base commander had final say. Even with shades, as long as you don&#39;t wear them at night or wear them in formations nobody will care. Go to the post optimologist and get the wire frame glasses. Bring the BCGs to the field with you unless you have a set of sawflies with inserts. I always wore my normal glasses in garrison and sawflies on mission or in the field. Hell, on deployment I wore my normal glasses until we left the wire. You may get a little flack from your team or squad leader about holding onto your &quot;birth control glasses&quot; from BCT but nothing other than that. <br /><br />As far as shopping for &quot;conservative&quot; eyewear, stick with normal and relatively solid colors. Avoid bright colors likes yellows, pinks, white, or designs that draw attention to your face. I wore glasses the entire time I was enlisted, and went through 3 or 4 pairs in that time. Never had anyone take issue with the frames. Unless it was during NBC fire but thats a different story.
