Is the current turmoil in Turkey the rebirth of the Ottoman Empire or possibly the new Capital of ISIL?

They are both Sunni. I guess, if it is lead by the Muslim Brotherhood it will be supported by the the current administration. The former Iraqi army Sunni's will have to play a secondary role, or get bombed.

Does anyone know enough to answer your question? When was the last time anyone read anything about Turkey? Anyone reported about Turkey? Is Turkey the Ottoman Empire any more than Iran is the Persian Empire? If the government of Turkey is an agent of Sunni Islam, what is its military? More strident Sunni? Less? Shia? Does anyone in our government know? I suspect not. Or, if they do, they're not talking. Or acting.

ISIS/ISIL/Daesh? No I don't think so. Wonderful Romantic Notions of some Past Heyday are just that. Not based in any Reality. Not that I would mind some aspects of Turkey under Ataturk but there were a lot of bad things during that time too. Also there is a big difference between Sufi and Wahabi.

No. It's your standard coup (attempt) that has splattered itself throughout the history of many countries in this area of the world. Turkey not so much since the Young Turks took over and that was a century + ago.
