It could be. As my battle SSG Ryan Rodney stated, there is no way to secure data that has been placed on a network. It might redefine the term battlefield. If we can remote pilot armed drones, you bet all our "buddies" out there are trying to figure out how to bring it down or use it against us w/o firing AA missiles they don't have. Not to mention that we have become so cyber dependent that I don't think we'd know what to do if our systems went down

When was the last time a unit trained - I mean REALLY trained - w/o computers? Collecting intel, filing reports, filling in requisition forms, all by hand. I think we could hold entire brigades at bay simply by disconnecting the power. We're so used to immediate communication and instant access to information that it would take days to "reboot" ourselves to operate manually, losing precious operating time.

Lob an EMP weapon into the works and see the panic ensue!

Things that make you go Hmm... The fact that we created Cybercom means that we recognize the threat of cyber attacks. Every day the US is prodded by our enemies via the web and we need to be prepared. The hack on SONY proved just how far they could breach the firewalls. Not only are there high-visibility, and seemingly successful, attacks on government systems the private sector is feeling it as well.

I have several customer who openly admit they are targeted regularly and often successfully.

If you are responsible for protecting sensitive data in either the public or private sector, then you are a target.

Sleep well tonight.
