Is the new Army Green Service Uniform intended to replace ACUs as daily wear?

Recently I overheard a CSM implying that the new dress uniform was eventually going to replace the ACU as a daily uniform. Is there anything out there suggesting this? First I had heard it.

That's my understanding also, where it is appropriate. For example, soldiers in office jobs would wear the pinks and greens, but people actually doing work would be in ACUs.

None to my knowledge. I know it's replacing the ASU when a formal uniform is not required. But...I wouldn't doubt those positions that are in an office may start reporting more and more often in Class Bs

Most likely just an uniform replacement. Used when required.

Why not? Those that are REMFs and work in an office have no need to be camouflaged.

That's the intent I heard. It's not a new concept. Things were done that way back in the 80s when I first joined.

I have heard the same. From what I can gather, the Green Service uniform are to replace the Class B mode of wear for the ASU.

Not especially practical for The AGR force...I work an “office” job but due to manpower limitations I can be pulled at any time to run vehicles to maintenance, help load out a truck, run the forklift, go up on the roof to reset the AC units, etc...if we did Class B Friday’s or something maybe it makes more sense but I’m not a fan of costume changes and it would probably add a lot of inefficiency to an already stressed force.

I know that is what the article says, "Everyday wear". But I feel like that was said to express that it would be used more often instead of the ASU. For any event requiring service uniform we only have the ASU, but with the pink and greens it may be more casual to use the pink and greens rather than the full out ASU.

Recruiters used to wear class Bs in the office before the war. I would not be surprised if the new dress uniform did become the duty uniform in office settings. With that being said, we are so far from total implementation that we wont have to worry about for quite a few years.

It used to be that the Pentagon, TRADOC headquarters, and most non-combat units wore class A orB as the daily uniform. I recall we had a MAJ in my CGSC class who actually filed a complaint that the quality of goods offered in the Ft Leavenworth PX was not of a high enough quality. Those of us who had been stainoned elsewhere in more remote sites were dumbfounded. There were PXs in certain GermanBorder Camp locations the size of a closet.

Then one officer put the whole thing inperspective. He said "that MFer has beenin for 12 years and has never worn BDUs." That said it all. ;)

In garrison it should. The camo uniform should be for the field or motor pool or other duty inappropriate for business attire.

I hope so. If a Soldier has a desk job, then he or she should wear the new Army Service Uniform. The work or combat uniform should be used as intended for field duty, combat operations, or dirty jobs. All Services generally dressed this way until after 9/11.

The intent is to move the combat uniform back into the field/deployed realm like it was originally before it was authorized for daily wear. The idea is the greens and their variations of wear (I.e.with coat/without etc.) will become the standard garrison uniform. It is also important to note that the Dress Blues will them transition into formal wear as it was originally intended. Hope that helps sir.

I believe so It’s going back to the past. When I joined in the late 80’s all the AGR’s and other full time staff in the Guard wore Class B’s during the week and only wore BDU’s during drill and AT. I think they are going back to that
