Recently I overheard a CSM implying that the new dress uniform was eventually going to replace the ACU as a daily uniform. Is there anything out there suggesting this? First I had heard it.

Recruiters used to wear class Bs in the office before the war. I would not be surprised if the new dress uniform did become the duty uniform in office settings. With that being said, we are so far from total implementation that we wont have to worry about for quite a few years.

Full production supposedly starts next year, with the uniforms available to purchase in April. Mandatory wear is currently set for 2028. I'm waiting to see what the leather jacket looks like...

Capt Gregory Prickett I hope that the leather jackets are the bomber jackets.

SFC Melvin Brandenburg - I hear that they are the old A-2 flight jackets, not the A-3 bomber jackets. The later has the sheepskin in it, and I understand that these won't.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Unless you live in the Artic true bomber jackets are unwearable other than in the dead of winter. The A-2 style jackets the AF uses are good General purpose jackets

That's the intent I heard. It's not a new concept. Things were done that way back in the 80s when I first joined.

It used to be that the Pentagon, TRADOC headquarters, and most non-combat units wore class A orB as the daily uniform. I recall we had a MAJ in my CGSC class who actually filed a complaint that the quality of goods offered in the Ft Leavenworth PX was not of a high enough quality. Those of us who had been stainoned elsewhere in more remote sites were dumbfounded. There were PXs in certain GermanBorder Camp locations the size of a closet.

Then one officer put the whole thing inperspective. He said "that MFer has beenin for 12 years and has never worn BDUs." That said it all. ;)
