Is there a certain experience (e.g. school, duty, duty station, etc.) that you would have liked to have?

Joseph yea there are a couple, being a SCUBA man and an SF dude I always wanted to combat diver. When I was in shape there were no slots or I to go other places. The other is; I wanted to go to the same course the Marines send the Force Recon or MARSOC guys to. When I was a team leader I worked with the Marines a good bit. The unit was not real big on the idea, so needless to say it did not happen. Which I guess in hind site is a good thing, just cause you are an SF ODA CDR does not mean you can make through the force recon course.
Overall I had a very full experience in the military, I got to go places and do things I would have not been possible without the military. I retrospect next to my father the Army made me who I am today. I have things that I would have liked but I guess no regrets

Greg great question; The primary reason even as a young man my hair was not cool enough. The real reason I never really considered being a SEAL, I wanted to be a Green Beret. It was not until after I became an SF dude that I discovered the Combat Diver thing. I have always loved working with the other services and jobs but I knew I was right where I was supposed to be, very few people are that lucky.

SN Greg Wright - Greg even during peace time I was afforded the opportunity to go places and do things that the majority of planet could not. Now understand very few of those places were on anyones vacation list, but they were all cool as f' in there own way. I guess I still miss it

...when I was a second LT I got my first pair of foreign jump wings, they were Italian. I am not sure how many sets I retired with but it was several, most Latin American.

John when I was a young buck I thought if I was a fighter pilot that would be the coolest and all the chicks would dig me the most. Those damn standards got in the way. They said barbarians dont need to take any test, however, they can jump out of airplanes if they want. Even as a young barbarian I thought ok however, I dont think the chicks will be as impressed hahaha

John I remember years ago I was going to take a look at some possible training areas in the mountains via CH47. When I got to the AC a close friend of mine stepped around the bird and smiled and said I'm your pilot. He put the ramp down gave me a harness told me to ride on the tailgate. I was back there JM style through the mountains great flight wow. Plus he loaned me a helmet with comms so we could talk the entire trip very cool

John I have to be honest I dont think they let infantry officers close to the front seat of a Cobra, just saying hahahaha
