Is there a double standard for the Republican National Convention to deny guns right advocates the right to carry arms at their convention?

I think this highlights the issues that the those against gun rights have been arguing. it validates their reasoning and sets back the arguments for gun freedoms.

The RNC is not denying the attendees from carrying, it is the policy of the Arena. Same policy other venues have required of most of the past conventions.

TSgt Private RallyPoint Member YES!! It is a total double standard. They have said that anybody should be able to carry a gun, just not near us! It is total bullshit! I am a huge believer that everyone should be able to carry. If this venue would not allow guns then they should have moved venues. They need to stop talking out of both sides of their mouth!! I swear if there was somebody that was not a pathological liar or a socialist running I would vote democrat!

Times are a changin'. Idaho just became the 8th state I believe to implement permitless carry which goes into effect 1 JUL. There are still the prohibited areas like court houses and the schools (attack here; I'm the softest target you'll find). Doesn't have much impact as there's a high percentage of adult permitted carry and will likely stay so as it is good in thirty something other states. BTW Idaho struck some of the Class III stuff so you don't have to get a Federal Stamp to own a can, etc. Only for residents and it must stay in the state.

As a general rule of thumb, TSgt Private RallyPoint Member, highly emotional political proceedings do not go well with guns -- a fact some states recognize by prohibiting the carrying of weapons at parades and political gatherings.

And, yet, we don't allow people other than secret service/law enforcement to carry firearms in the White House, Congress, various federal buildings. The secret service has a hard enough job protecting candidates without having to let everyone and their mother carry firearms at the convention. Anyone who has read me on this site knows I'm big on gun rights; but some causes are just plain stupid.

Why would anyone need to CCW there??? As a retired LEO, I can carry a gun anywhere, in any state. I wouldn't take one into the convention hall.
