Is there a Fort Hood MMA team? Are infantry at Fort Hood encouraged to fight each other outside of training?

Some is telling me that infantry is encouraged to be brutal and fight each other in combat pits and fight houses. He also claims you guys can try out for the Fort Hood MMA team. This is contrary to what most infantry I know has said.

Been a few years since I've been at Hood, but one of the guys in my platoon was assigned to the Hood Fight House as a combatives instructor because he held a level 4. There are competitions but I cannot vouch for brutality of any sort outside of duty. We did occasionally utilize the pits for combatives refresher during PT.

Thanks for that. I did end up finding info on Fight house and read a story on Lee. Didn't sound like they are just encouraged to fight each other but that it was a skilled competition and means to further combat training.

Also, SFC Smith was in my reginment as well. Anytime something noteworthy happened while he was on the show, there was buzz at the water cooler. http://kdhnews.com/fort_hood_herald/sports_and_leisure/fort-hood-sergeant-st-class-mma-fighter-to-be-on/article_4b8b2de2-df11-11e5-b65d-2be16ea74f34.html
Fort Hood sergeant 1st class, MMA fighter to be on CMT show this Sunday
A Fort Hood soldier and mixed martial arts fighter will be on a cable television show Sunday competing for $10,000 in “cold, hard cash.”

when I was there(2012 to 2015), the fight club gym was impressive. The BJJ classes were really good.
My unit rarely touched combative. My platoon wS investigated for birthday pink bellies so I highly doubt any kind of off duty fighting was going on.
