If you want Active ensure you don't sign a reserve forces contract. Most likely your best bed will be to do a 2 year scholarship that allows you to continue to drill while doing rotc unless they have changed and have longer simultaneous membership contracts. Just go ROTC SSgt Christophe Murphy Sat, 11 Feb 2023 11:59:31 -0500 2023-02-11T11:59:31-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 11 at 2023 12:48 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-a-green-to-gold-option-to-go-from-national-guard-enlisted-to-active-duty-officer?n=8129101&urlhash=8129101

No, only the Active Duty Option guarantees an Active Duty Commission. But you can always finish your degree using TA and enlist AD with an OCS contract. That doesn't guarantee you an Active Duty slot, you need to be at the top of the OML (Order Of Merit List)and not sign a Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty Contract. However, you have a leg up on the other cadets militarily, but you will need to speak to the Cadre about the other things they consider.
If you go that route, I highly recommend joining SMP. That allows you to drill with a unit as a Cadet and get paid at an E5. It will get you some experience on the Officer side of the business and you don't lose any Time in Service toward pay (regular ROTC is dead time). Makes a substantial pay difference when you commission.
You can't be SMP and have a ROTC scholarship.
Your next step would be to contact ROTC at your school. I used my GI Bill and never took the ROTC scholarship. By the time my final year of ROTC came around I had top marks all around and got active duty like I wanted.

If this process is anything similar to what you're thinking, feel free to message me. I would love to help. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 13 Feb 2023 15:34:30 -0500 2023-02-13T15:34:30-05:00 2023-02-11T11:42:57-05:00
