They are selected and assigned to the position of Company 1SG. If the Soldier is MSG then He/She wears the Diamond, simple.<br /><br />Now, frocking is authorized under AR 614-200, para 7 (4) for USASMC Graduates.<br /><br />Also, AR 600-8-19, para 7 (10), authorizes froking for NG Senior Enlisted under some circumstances.<br /><br />Besides that, I’m unaware of other enlisted frocking instances. But I could wrong.Response by MAJ Javier Rivera made Nov 30 at 2020 4:40 AM2020-11-30T04:40:19-05:002020-11-30T04:40:19-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6539814<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A new memo recently came out authorizing a temp frock to 1sg or csm for those serving in the role of such. Previously the soldier would keep their rank, perform above their pay grade, get a nice ncoer bullet. This new memo states that the soldier will get frocked and will receive pay of the frocked grade. This is super new, as in last week new, so idk if its been activated or only talked about. Sounds like an S1 or HRC question.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 30 at 2020 7:35 AM2020-11-30T07:35:40-05:002020-11-30T07:35:40-05:00LTC Jason Mackay6540013<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>AR 600-8-19Response by LTC Jason Mackay made Nov 30 at 2020 9:01 AM2020-11-30T09:01:13-05:002020-11-30T09:01:13-05:00SGM Steve Wettstein6540279<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SFC (P) can can get frocked to 1SG. This usually happens in Combat Arms because they need to get MOSQd. So the BCT CSM usually take newly promotable/promoted to be 1SGs. Others, like mine (31B) have new MSGs be Operations Sergeants in BN HQs. I was lucky and was given the HHC BCT 1SG position and didn't have to do Operations time before my leadership time.Response by SGM Steve Wettstein made Nov 30 at 2020 10:44 AM2020-11-30T10:44:49-05:002020-11-30T10:44:49-05:00SGM Bill Frazer6541189<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Frocking is like being promotable with a sequence number that wont be reached for several months- command can "frock you" You fill the position and wear the new rank, but your pay does not go up. !sg are seldom frocked- they are assigned to the position.Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Nov 30 at 2020 5:36 PM2020-11-30T17:36:54-05:002020-11-30T17:36:54-05:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member6541458<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know for the officers one can only Frock to a Field Grade (MAJ-COL), they have to be in the position of Frock and they have to be (P).
