Is there a regulation that states how far out from PCS/ETS you should continue to work law enforcement?

So the question in all my years in the Army, I have searched and failed to find and also been told there is a regulation that states how far you should work Law Enforcement from your DEROS/PCS/ETS date?

Not really sure what you're asking, but if you mean is there waiting period after ETS to start working LE? I'm a retired LEO and retired MP and no, never heard of such a thing.

I understand what you are asking.
You are getting out and are not looking to have pending cases. And...hoping not to get tangled up in something on the way out.
This is a problem in civilian LE all the time. Guys retire...cases drag on.
Never heard of a regulation specifying a date however.
Easy enough to talk with the boss and get moved to a support/training/administrative role for the last few months.
Short of that, assign any new cases to troops who will be there when you’re gone.

Ssg, I had this same question when I was approaching ETS. I did address this with my COC, but we couldn't find anything on it. What the unit did was continue to work me on the desk as I had been as a clerk, up to 90 days prior to ETS. They did the same for a couple other Joe's as well. They worked admin to prevent pending cases. That 90 was enough to leave w/o worries of being recalled.

SSG, I know for ETS after you complete SFL phase two physical, you are not allowed to conduct LE operations. A few of the NCOs I know who have ETSed were put on admin because their physical essentially said they were good to go and working the road risks starting the whole process over again. Not sure if that is just our unit or Army wide. As for PCS, people have worked LE up until they clear.

Things must have changed. I never heard of such a thing when I was in from '75 to '96. I had guys work the road right up to two days before they'd ETS, while doing their out-processing part time. They'd finish their last shift, we'd throw 'em a party and their last day would be spent on any last-minute crap before they signed out and left. I signed out on terminal leave on April 12th but didn't retire until May 31st.
