Is there a requirement for your Command to give you time to complete Distance Learning (DL) SLC (68W Phase 1)? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-a-requirement-for-your-command-to-give-you-time-to-complete-distance-learning-dl-slc-68w-phase-1 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I seem to remember there was a regulation or policy that required commands to give SMs time during the duty day to complete NCOES DL. I've exhausted my google-fu and thought I'd ask the crowd. I make it a practice to set aside some time during the workday, usually during my lunch, to work on DL courses. The Soldier is expected to complete the course on their own, but they are compensated for a portion of their time. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 07 Jun 2016 08:52:30 -0400 2016-06-07T08:52:30-04:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 7 at 2016 9:53 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-a-requirement-for-your-command-to-give-you-time-to-complete-distance-learning-dl-slc-68w-phase-1?n=1604093&urlhash=1604093 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="656920" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/656920-68w-healthcare-specialist-combat-medic-usuhs-usd-p-r">2LT Private RallyPoint Member</a> If I remember correctly that statement is usually found in the statement of understanding before you start your course. Although your unit is supposed to provide you the ability to work on your DL, we all know it usually will not happen. I personally volunteered for Staff Duty to work on NCOES DL or just completed them in my own personal time. I would recommend that you bring up your concerns to your first line supervisor. Come up with a plan on how to manage your educational obligation with your work obligations. I would recommend asking for 2 hours either at the start of the day or before COB so you can still complete the mission you all have. Good Luck! Once you give them this, then it's just really up to your commander if he wants to give you available time during the typically duty day to complete it. The DL doesn't take that long to complete, typically going on auto pilot with it and doing the small task you can do while you complete it will be a good. You're given a few months to knock it out, so while your typing stuff up, just open it up.
