Most of us look to something to get us by on a day to day basis. Is there a necklace, charm or anything else that you keep on your person at all times?

I picked up my dad's dog tags the day he was killed by a drunk driver on 14 March 1992, six days before I enlisted. I've carried them everyday since.

I didn't carry it all the time. In '06 a friend was killed in Iraq. His wife gave me one of his dog tags. I wrapped it in 550 cord and attached it to my body armor. I had it for several years and wore it for 2 deployments after that.

I have worn a gold chain (small) with either a cross, propeller, and now a circle with a triangle inside (AA). I also have to mention this teddy bear that my first wife gave me that went with me on every submarine and ship that I was on. He has more time at test depth than most people, lol!

My Dog Tags were always with me. I still have them as well as my father's Dog Tags. He was a proud Navy man!

i kept my wallet from before basic till 6 or 7 years after. still had sand in it from Ft Bliss. it finally went to hell. the wallet too.

I still carry one dog tag. (my oldest daughter has the other and one of her father's)

I bought a small zippo lighter with Pallas Athena on it during basic at Ft McClellan. I fished it out of the POL pit a couple times when my pocket had holes. (female fatigues sucked!)
It now resides in my jewelry box. Scratched and dented now (and still smelling of used motor oil) but I carried it from the day I bought it until after I was discharged.
