Work your career manager hard. It would not be unheard of to contact a unit CSM to see what their thoughts are about you coming to their unit. CSM’s and BN/BDE CDR’s have been know to make stuff happen.

By name request (BNR) from the desired unit to HRC. Those are few and far between as of late. The BNR process usually goes through GO channels.

different post. if this were the 90's id know what to do just sign in there and let the unit claim me, but alas those days are gone.

Aww, gotcha. Yeah... Pretty sure that you are going to need to get someone at branch to give the okay for that one. If the units are already trying to wheel and deal, I would look into having the highest ranking NCO or Officer you can get to call up branch. Perhaps all you need is a little more rank muscle to get it through.

SFC (Join to see) - I never understood the "go sign in somewhere else" method and the Army's tacit approval of same in the 1990s.
