Is there any advantage to purchasing a ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security) membership? Security professionals only please?

1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member I work with many security professionals. I do not know a single one who joined ASIS. Much like Linkdin, it is no where near as good as the hype would have you believe. A good resume that you update for EVERY position that you apply for, coupled with effective networking will get you in the door. A good work effort (I know you have it based on your success in the USMC) will get your new career moving well. I have found that when I work with lifelong civilians, they can't keep up with me when I half step (let alone the fact that I refuse to give less than 100%). Trust your skills and you will go far!

I just glanced over the site. be totally honest, I just got done, suing the TSA and winning my case. they called me a liability because, I have too many security clearances, top secret security clearances and questioned the validity of me being a Ghost Operator. Look, I own Integrity Bresch, we just secured contracts with the NFL, The Entertainment Industry in South Florida and the South Florida Yachting Industry. Stop going to other people and advance yourself my friend. Incorporate yourself whatever state your in and become your own business. these idiots who keep setting up this website and that website, black ops, night ops, security ops, its all the same shit. anyone who brings harm to an innocent, your job is to stop them, give it whatever name you want, its Evil plain and simple and evil dies no matter what form it takes.

1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member - ASIS is an association for security professionals that offers some (hard to get, time-consuming and expensive) professional certifications, a monthly magazine and daily e-mail newsletter. Although I used to be a member, I honestly do not see any real benefit of membership except, possibly, connections you might make at conferences, etc. My membership was paid by my company, but, even with that, I let my membership lapse, as I saw no benefit from it. Others may have different opinions, but I believe most would just see it as just another thing to put on a resume as a professional organization you belong to.

One more thing, as a senior executive in a very large security company, I have never once used an ASIS membership as a discriminator when hiring someone.

Is anyone familiar with the certifications from IFPO(Int'l Foundation for Protection Officers)? Namely the CPO (Certified Protection Officer) programs or Security Supervision and Management Program.
