It took me 4 times to get the ASVAB. I was not good a standardized testing. I am currently working on Project Management Certification another standardized test. Some of the test strategies are to take online tests several time and take some brush up classes in math, and read alot. When you get your commission you will read and write allot. The PMP guide recommends to study 30 min a day before you go to bed and to drink lots of water. It is written at a high school level. If you are applying for OCS, you should have already attended college. You should be able to brush up on your arithmetic and vocabulary and be able to do fine. Seriously, I don't think I saw any mathematics on there that was above a middle school level.

I have never done an ASVAB prep program or gotten an ASVAB practice book, but have had to study for the SAT's, GRE, and countless other standardized exams. You know how one of the most important processes in TLP's is rehearsals? The same goes for standardized exams. Get an ASVAB practice book, set a timer, and pretend that you are actually taking the ASVAB. If you simulate test conditions, you will do better on the actual exam.

Finally, if you just struggle with the ASVAB, there is a version that isn't timed called the PiCAT. You will be able to complete most of it without any time limit and then take the PiCAT verification test which essentially asks you a few questions to verify that you didn't cheat.
