Is there any way I can move with my husband, who is active duty Air Force and on orders to Italy, while in the Army National Guard?

My husband is active duty Air Force while I am Army National Guard. He was just informed that he has orders to Italy, leaving in November. Is there any way I can go with him?

You can absolutely move with him but you would still be required to drill. As far as I know there are no NG units in Europe. You do have options though. First get with your first line leader, like yesterday, that is always going to be your most relevant source of information. Your best bet would probably be seeking a conditional release (DD 368) and enlisting in the Reserve, there are units in Europe. If you do seek a conditional release be aware that the paperwork can take a long time to process. Another possibility is seeing if you can transfer to the ING during your husband's tour, but I believe that you are capped at one year in the ING at a time.

You may also be able to do all your drills for the year back to back with AT if the command approves. Reserves is probably your best bet. Enjoy Italy.
