We are stationed at Fort Bliss and my family is having a hard time adjusting to being so far from home. Is there any way we can pcs to a closer base before my time is up besides reenlisting or just getting out all together? I still have 2 years left here.

You need to contact your branch manager and see what option he provides. One posible course of action would be to request a Korea assignment (one year tour) while your family stay at their home of records. Then request a follow up assigned. High probability for the later but not 100% guaranteed.

You signed up. Your wife as well. Your branch manager is going to say get something from a doctor on paper.

The short answer is only through a compassionate reassignment. DOD requires a 2 year SRR from your report date to a new assignment, which you would need to reenlist to meet. In addition there is a 2 year on station rule for reenlisting to a new duty assignment and 3 year TOS for branch moving you. Also, there's the prohibition against 11B branch moving you BCT to BCT. Your BM will just tell you to reenlist for your next duty station.

The short answer of the Compassionate Reassignment is based on AR 614-200 and if there is either a legal or medical reason for the request. It is also based on whether or not the supporting documents support the move. Additionally, keep in mind, even if a compassionate reassignment is approved, the SRR requirements still have to be met with 24 months from arrival month. One other thing about the compassionate avenue to remember, there has to be Position for the Soldier to move into, and hopefully the Installation is not over strength for the MOS/Grade/Skill Level.
