Are we fair as a military or society on consent? Or is it a double standard?

Thinking about all of our SAPR/SHARP briefing we all have attended they usually focus on getting the woman's consent, if she is drinking she can't consent, etc, etc. as illustrated by this poster.

What are your thoughts on the commentary?

Personal opinion.....it's definitely in the females favor. Nothing wrong with that being that men are stupid sometimes, but when alcohol is involved, who's word is golden? She doesn't remember something, and neither does he, but there's a good chance his career is over based off an bad thought or assumption of what happened the night before. Both parties should think before acting when it comes to sex, especially when alcohols involved, but alas it doesn't happen that way. I also know that most of the sexual assault briefings are catered towards the thought that the man has done wrong. So a woman cannot have her way with a drunken man? Sounds weird, but you cannot have it just one way.

Many say that it favors females, however statistics say that females are more likely to report sexual consent cases then males do. To be fair, it favors the first one to report.

I concur with this - however, I'll add that the male victim in this case suffers two fold. He's a victim and once he reports it - he'll suffer ridicule due to the stigma of men can not be victims of sexual assault by women (or men for that matter).

I know women don't report it due to similar stigma - but I'd argue the stigma that a guy faces if reporting such crime is much harsher and less forgiving than that of what a woman faces.

Do we have any psychiatrists/mental health therapists who can speak on this (w/out violating HIPAA of course)?
