Is there really such a thing as 'love at first sight?'

Does 'love at first sight' actually exist? Or is it 'lust at first sight?' Is it truly possible to be 'swept off your feet' by someone?

Yes on a few occasions I would meet a woman who was in the same orbit as both of us. The radiance of her smiles were brilliant, and felt like we knew each other forever. They treated me like I was the most important person in the world, and with a heavy sigh, I had to say goodbye as the time was all wrong. I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO ADD LUST TO GET A THUMBS UP!

There's also lust at first sight. Lots of believers both ways. Didn't know my wife existed until she punched me. Long story with two versions depending on who you ask. So for me it was Whiskey Tango Foxtrot at first sight. Couldn't figure out what type of animal she was. Once I did, the rest is history.

I don't know for sure. I think there are some that are drawn to each other quickly. We call it love at first sight. There are just as many of those "love at first sight" relationships that fail to succeed I am sure. We normally here about the more successful ones.

I've been married 28 years. When I met her, she certainly turned my head around. There was certainly something there, we both knew it. Love at first sight? Not sure.

I do believe in love at first sight, but also think it's so much more than that. The meeting of the souls, discovering your other half and feeling their spirit. I'm very fortunate to have experienced this, although the timing could have been more convenient, I have the love of my life and I couldn't ask for more.

No. I believe in lust at first sight. Love is something you have to work towards- TRUST, attraction, communication, common interests- those are the base that start to build. Not lobe at first sight. IMO.

Thank you for posting this Sir.

I personally have been told by many women that they love me.
My response: "Where do you feel it?"
My reason, because as soon as the reply is a part of the body or some where in there mind, I know its not true love.

I much prefer someone whom is attracted to me an I to her, someone whom I can walk to the store with and not mind being around her all day.

However does love at first sight exists? My answer is Yes.
There is the kind of love that one feels for there parents, sister, brother, sons ect.
There is the kind of love that one feels for there fellow men (As Jesus felt for us)
There is the kind of love that one feels for there wife, husband.
And there is the kind of love one feels for another that leads to death, divorce, violence. This is the one that is note above, When someone says they love you but feel it in there heart, head, stomach ect.

I often hear people talk about soul mates and wondered where this came from. (soul Mate)

How about Love at First Dance. Well, kinda!

There was a very pretty girl who would drop by my Navy recruiting office, she worked at the base clinic, and although I was attracted to her it seemed like she was always looking for someone else in the office that wasn’t around. Little did I know until years later that she was trying to peak my interest in her.

Finally the Love God above hit me on my noggin and I asked her out on a date. Little did I know she was a college student and had a final exam the following day so it was a whirlwind date at a local dance club in Dallas; heck the band hadn’t even showed up, it was that early. So we had our dance(s) and I reluctantly took her home well early in the evening hour. But, that first dance with her in my arms I knew she was the girl I was meant to be with…no love at first sight, but I KNEW! Fast forward 2-years, we were talking about this and that and she brings up that first date (dance) and she said something that floored me as she never spoke about it before. She said during the first dance she became at peace with herself as she knew I was the man she would marry, she didn’t love me yet but she knew I was the one. So, not love at first sight…but soul mates at first dance.
