The Pentagon will significantly expand the number of daily drone sorties conducted around the globe during the next several years and will for the first time expand the mission beyond the Air Force, a defense official said.

The plan reflects a high-level recognition that the Air Force's remotely piloted vehicle fleet can no longer meet the forcewide demand for combat air patrols flown by drone pilots, mainly due to severe pilot shortages.

"Demand exceeds supply in this type of mission," Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said Monday.

Where would the waste of tax payer money be? The Army and the Marine Corps are the largest consumers of ISR (drone) assets.

Not at all. I like this. It will give us the edge we need in war again. We got bloodied a bit. Our enemies seen some of our weaknesses. They will use that against us if the time comes. But no can counter us in the drone game.

This is a bad sign.

Increasing mission requirement without increasing support is a recipe for failure, if not disaster.

It is important to note WHY there are such pilot shortages.
The biggest reason is a disproportionately high attrition rate among the drone pilots due to conscientious objection. The pilots simply can't get behind blowing up innocent people anymore and are dropping off at an alarming rate.

By the way, someone show me a Declaration of War.
