Arizona’s new law: High-schoolers must pass the same civics test that immigrants take

Arizona has become the first state in the nation to OK a law requiring high school students to pass the same civics exam that immigrants have to take to win their citizenship.

“Not long from now, our children will be entrusted with protecting the principles on which this country was founded, and it is up to us to prepare them for that responsibility today,” said Gov. Doug Ducey, Reuters reported. “[This measure will] help ensure all Arizona students understand basic American civics.”

[EDITORIAL COMMENT:-Considering that the last Pew Research poll showed that around 33% of all recent high school graduates could NOT name "the three branches of [the American] government" correctly, it's about time. Now if only they didn't get to vote unless they passed (like immigrants don't) THAT would be a real step in the direction of the Original Intent that the Founding Fathers had when they wrote the American Constitution.] [PS - I believe that the pass rate for immigrants is around 92% - on their FIRST attempt.]

I am not sure if it is brain washing.

Too many youths are getting through he education system without actually knowing anything.

This could be somewhat of a solution. Maybe not the best but a start.
