Is this new campaign patch a not so subtle nod to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group or just really ugly?

The Operation Inherent Resolve campaign patch has been widely criticized for its similarity to the logo for the radical Islamist and terror front group, the Muslim Brotherhood.

The campaign patch and accompanying medal feature a palm wreath in a crescent shape, three stars, and crossed scimitars on a green background, all of which bear similarities and associations with symbols of Islam, particularly the short, curved swords and crescent moon shape.

“You can keep that ISIS patch featuring swords that chop off our heads,” wrote former Army chief warrant officer David Clay.

Do you think this is a deliberate slap in the face of the military by the Obama administration or just the result of poor taste?

A little Overkill on the Green but to be honest it doesn't look much different from my Kuwaiti Liberation Medal from the Government of Saudi Arabia!

It is a hideous patch. Not sure who came up with the color scheme and overall design but it looks like it might glow in the dark too. Crossed swords are not an uncommon military image and the coloration appears to be a head nod to that region of the world but not sure I would elevate to a MB attribution. I am glad I don't have to wear it.

Looks a lot like the Islamic Group's logo. A terrorist group out of Egypt still active fighting Assad. The crescent moon goes way back to the pagan origins of Islam. Hubal was the moon god worshiped at the Ka’aba. The crescent moon was Hubal’s symbol. The Ka'aba in Mecca was the center for idol-worship where the Black Stone was one among many stones and idols venerated at the Ka’aba by the pre-Islamic pagans. The Black Stone was kissed during pre-Islamic pagan worship. Though Muhammad threw out 360 other objects at the Ka’aba, he retained this Black Stone and continued the practice of kissing it. It is this same stone that the pre-Islamic pagans once kissed, that Muslims kiss today when visiting Mecca. Many of the Islamic traditions have roots in pagan practices. The retention of such practices more than likely help facilitate the formation of Islam by Muhammad.
