Is this the right time to rebuild the services? I have felt this is so long over due. All services- across all mission support scopes have been affected. Morale- burnout- short turn time for deployments- all have had an effect on the retention rates within all services. What does rebuild the services even mean? Understand that my experience in anecdotal, no one can see everything... however I don't see an Army in need of rebuilding. It needs more Modernization efforts, many troops need a real break, however I don't see any need for a rebuild.

Trump needs to focus on the economy, without an economy capable of sustaining our military we are in deep trouble.

The Army has been in sequestration. The Army that was supposed to be under sequestration, I can't find the speech from 2013 that the Head of the JCS gave to the U.S Army association, is actually smaller than we planned. We have gutted the Army since we are now only ready for one Major Conflict and one Humanitarian mission not two wars at once like we were until 6 years ago.

Similar to the Ronald Reagan Presidency following the Jimmy Carter administration and the post-Vietnam was drawdown and realignment, eight years under POTUS Obama has in many senses depleted the force as the services have been drawn down and growth, maintenance and sustainment limited by sequestration. The next few years will hopefully be used to rebuild the forces in accordance with a revitalized National Defense Strategy and the mid-to-long term threat projections Maj Marty Hogan

And along with that, we need the VA revamped. I don't know where all of the money will come from, but these are only two things needing immediate overhaul.
