I can&#39;t stress that enough. There is an educated diet. Plenty of articles out there to calculate how many calories you need to take in vs what you are burning out. As far as exercise, light to medium weights (unless you are looking to bulk) with more reps. Get your heart rate up to about 140% of resting rate. Keep it there during the work out. Work muscle groups. Split into 4 or 5 groups each week. Today: legs, tomorrow: shoulders/chest, etc. Confidence/obstacle course is also great. Used muscles equal strong muscles and will maintain flexibility. People react differently to diet/workout plans. The biggest thing is that it can&#39;t be just exercise and it can&#39;t just be changing your diet. Both work hand-in-hand. But, one thing I would suggest, if for the fitness part there&#39;s going to be running involved, everyone needs a good pair of shoes that are less than a year old. A bad pair of shoes will lead to pain and discomfort real quick.
