Just graduated 68W AIT, and I will be heading to airborne school in about 3 weeks. What are the chances of getting 173rd or the 82nd?

They are fairly good there is also 4-25 in Alaska. No way to know for sure but odds are good you will be in an Airborne unit.

Chances are that you will end up in the 82d. But if you take the initiative and call branch ASAP, you might a ticket to the 173rd. Just be mentally prepared, serving in an elite unit like the 82d or 173rd is demanding.

Highly likely. Especially with potential deployments coming up. 82nd, 173d, and 4-25 in AK are your likely destinations. Good luck in school! Feet and knees together.

Depends on the vacancies that day. You might end up in some armor unit in Korea.

AA will be a given, you may be recruited if... by one of the OPS units, it will all depend on you, also, you can always submit a DA4187 requesting a special Ops Unit.

Most likely the 82nd., once you're in you'll most likely stay there too. The Army likes to keep the paratroops there in Fort Bragg, later you can move over to the SF.

I would imagine that you already have a unit assignment. When you go through AIT out processing ask the S1 for clarification of duty assignment. You might already have orders or an assignment by branch that is just waiting for Airborne completion.

I got stationed in Alaska and I’m not a fan of the cold but it’s pretty nice here you learn a lot based on your NCO. Plus you get the cool guy jumps here just got 2 CH-47 jumps this week. You just got to make the best out of it.
