Just received orders to Fort Stewart. My gaining unit is supposedly the 92nd EN BN. Is it a good unit?

What is the set up in the barracks? How are the DFAC hours? I am a 92G.

The 92nd used to have a good reputation. Not quite as good as the 62nd or 43rd Engineers though.

fort stewart is a great duty station i was winn army hospital. Barrack were ok in 2001-2007. they were doing upgrade. Go early and get aquainted with the area i do recommend to stay off 144 too many accident that road that takes you to savannah (hostorical) city, you have tybee island, jekyll island great to go in the summer time....from fort stewart your about 1 hour from I-95 and about 1 1/2 from jacksonville, fl...

I was assigned as a Battalion CSM at Fort Stewart. It is positioned better than many Posts as it is close to many forms of activity. As far as the Post itself is will be what you make it. Work hard, learn be disciplined in your duties and you will see that you are a part of a Team! One of your responders laid out the rest very well, just Soldier on and it will be a great assignment! Hooah!!!

I was there in the late 80's and early 90's, Fort Stewart was the home of the 24th Infantry Division at the time. I know nothing of the 92nd EN BN, But I enjoyed my time on the base for the most part, as part of the 3/7 inf Scout Plt

I don't any thing about barracks situation or this particular DFAC hours. What I do know is this, if you as a 92G are not passionately in love with cooking you will not WILL NOT be happy with this MOS. I have been a cook most of my life even when I was a 13 series I love to cook to ensure what I serve the warriors of the unit I am attached with get the very best I can offer. Remember this, if you would not serve it to your immediate family, don't serve it to your brothers and sisters at arms

Currently at Stewart. They do not call it the Marne express for nothing so prepare yourself for that. The only perk is that there is a lot to do. Savannah, Jacksonville, etc..
