Just wondering if anyone had any advice or tips about Ft. I'll be going to Ft. Huachuca for my AIT and I was, as the question stated, wondering if anyone had any advice or tips, what to expect and that stuff Thu, 15 Nov 2018 14:26:50 -0500 Just wondering if anyone had any advice or tips about Ft. The hiking in huachuca is good, but not good enough to keep you occupied for a year. There’s not much to do in huachuca, especially as an IET soldier, and the nearest real city (Tucson) is an hour away. I don’t think they have a restaurant like that near Fort Bragg unfortunately. If you slack off and don’t take it seriously, it’ll show how much effort you put in. Also maintain your military bearing. I did the split op thing too, and I know you can forget a lot of your mannerisms when you’re back in school. Last thing, RUN. Elevation here is around 4600 feet, so if you’re not used to breathing without air in your lungs, all you gotta do is run longer and faster. Pay attention and don't stay up late. They're going to give you a lot of information amd only have so much time to train you. If at any point you're lost just let them know. I have a lot of buddies who are currently instructors and they are more than willing to spend the extra time to make sure you're properly trained. Focus on school and worry about AIT later, enjoy your time before joining. Wouldnt hurt to get spun up on linux commands and windows commad line in the mean time. I suppose your gonna have a long course at AIT. So just do everything right the first time so you don’t have to do anything over again. Don’t lose your military bearing in AIT. Drink a lot of water people pass out all the time. Help your battle buddies. Don’t go any where without a battle. And do the right thing even when no one is watching. If I’m correct, the 35T company has the same SOP as us since we’re in the same battalion. You usually end the duty day at 5pm, and march back to your barracks or DFAC. From there, you have until 9pm to do whatever in the Battallion area (Shoppette/Gym). On weekends you’ll be able to go to the PX or commissary, until you’re phase V, which means you can wear civilian clothes and go off post. You’ll have your phone on non duty hours from the start.
