I have been for over 6 years now and am feeling like I want to further my career as a Marine. The MOS's I have thought about are Military Police/Security Forces/Military Dog Handler. My real dream is to be a dog handler and I know that MOS is a sub MOS in the Military Police field.

Any suggestions or advice on what to do? Sounds Like your doing pretty well for yourself in your current MOS. As a Military Police Officer myself (12 years Army). I have been lucky enough to serve with the Air Force Security Forces, and USMC MP's. Changing over now to a field as diverse as Military Police would present a challange. I see your post is 4 months Old. So if you have already done it, I hope the best for you. If not an you are still interested. Get with the Marine Barracks MPs and talk to them about exactally what you would be doing. As a Staff NCO Law Enforecement may not be a big part of your day to day activites. Also with every Branch, each MOS has its own selection criteria for promotion to E-7. The last Marine MP SSgt I worked with had been in the marines for 13 years, and a SSgt for 5 or 6, and was just about to get his first look for GSgt. As for the MWD get with your local kennel master, talk to him/her about your chances to get and work a dog. If you want, Call the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall kennel master and talk to him.
