A Texas college teen is inspired by one of our former great presidents, Teddy Roosevelt, and goes on to accomplish what many could only dream of doing. She goes on a legal safari and successfully hunts. She proudly displays her accomplishments and, because a few people consider it "inappropriate", Facebook
promptly takes her photos down? Really!? These people should spend their time and energy on taking down something truly illegal, like the sexploitation of our youth!

There are a lot more inappropriate pictures and comments on FB than this. This is tame compared to a lot of the rubbish out there. Yet another example of... wait for it, ... offending someone. I spend most of my time here lately because the discussion is more relevant and entertaining.

I don't understand why you'd want to kill a rhino. You're not going to eat it, so it seems senseless. I can appreciate hunting for food, but not killing animals just for "fun".

There are many that are simply put off by anything related to hunting - of any sort. It's been my experience, based on multiple head banging sessions with said types of individuals, that those against hunting are usually those who have (a) never hunted (b) never had to do without (i.e.- always had food on the table) (c) have never had to do much for themselves. Yes, that's generalizing, but it's based on personal experience.

One has to look at hunting in much the same way one does combat. If you've "been there, done that" and you've tried to explain it to someone who has never experienced it you run up against what I call the "blank wall". The individual you're trying to explain "what is" to, just has no point of reference to even begin to understand. Oh, they try to understand - but there's just no way to explain the mind crippling fear, the out of body experience, the numbness, the unf&*(ing unbelieveable anger, the hands and body shaking as if they had minds of their own, the realization you shit and pissed yourself and never knew it and didn't care and the pure unadultered joy of sitting next to your buddies after you realize that you're still alive.

There's just no way to describe it to someone who hasn't "been there, done that".

So, those who have never experienced hunting have no way / no point of reference.

Plus, IMHO, they're just clueless.

#1 It's very easy for something legal to be inappropriate. It's perfectly legal for me to talk to someone, there are times I should not.

#2 facebook use a automated system, if enough people report a pitcuer it gets taken down no questions asked, its impossible to keep up with the amount of reports

While I personally disagree with Facebook removing something that is not sexually explicit, immoral, or vulgar, it is not our website. The website is owned by stockholders. They determine what is and is not appropriate in the end. Telling a business we disagree with their policies is fine, but when all is said and done, we can't really force the business to do anything.

I am at a loss at times... I mean, Rhinos... black or white varieties, aren't they endangered? I know that most large cats are on the endangered lists, but if she was allowed a hunting permit, then who am I to quibble?
Many of us in Texas, grow up knowing that meat doesn't magically appear on the table, and yes, we do hunt, and we do eat what we kill. It bothers me what animals she hunted, but as far as hunting, not a problem with that... just hate the waste of trophy hunting as I am pretty dang positive there are no recipees for Lion or Rhino.

Reason i million why I do not like Facebook. I realize it is their site and they can do what they want, but this is censorship. I have seen much worse than this on Facebook. The sad thing is.... this is totally legal.

I am becoming more convinced that Facebook is nothing more than the social media wing of our government. As I have stated before, if it weren't for being able to keep up with my family, I would delete my account there.

I've always been raised with an "eat what you kill" mentality when it comes to hunting. I've no issues with her killing the beasts, but she should be field-dressing them and ensuring that the meat, hide, and bone get used for something--anything, really.

They're a private company and can choose what meets their standards. Like it or not we're protect in what we post from the government, just not from private organizations. Now we also have the freedom if we choose to avoid doing business with Facebook.

I have found that suggesting to the non hunters, that taking their camera into the woods and shooting pictures of all the animals they see, will give them a similar feel for the hunt that a hunter get from hunting. It is a close approximation without actually killing the animal.

Here's some more facts since we are dealing with lots of misinformation out there. Regardless of how ANYONE feels about hunting, it is a person's right to do so. If a person is so virulently against hunting then provide facts in a logical and adult manner proving one's point.

Here's another issue as shown in the below link. This guy, and others, are so hateful and ignorant that he has to bad mouth and insult another person. This is truly disgusting to suggest the murder (yes, I know he said KILL) of another person let alone requesting nude photos of a young girl. As the article states, people like him are conducting the real "war on women". To be blunt, the guy (he's NO man) is a pig.

SFC Joseph Benavidez, Two thumbs up but only because I don't have more than 2. Also a Hooah and Ooh Rah! What people do not understand is that when you take an animal that is endangered and apply animal management to it the animal will flourish but hopefully at a balanced rate. If you make a Rhino legal to hunt but charge a tidy sum then it makes it important for people to make sure their are more around to hunt thus providing a living for the license seller, animal manager, hunting guide, etc, etc. Isn't capitalism an amazing thing?

Facebook violated their own terms by removing them.....if they were like the rhino pic. It is their service though so IMO they get the final say (they are paying the bills)
She should buy her own web hosting and site so she can post away. I am pretty sure if she can afford to go on safari she can afford that.
I would have to see the picture to give my final two cents, more than likely it was a lack of judgment on the part of the photographer.

I can't agree with their decision, but I also think that we shouldn't force our opinions on anyone either. I can appreciate their publicly taken position; it allows me to realize that their corporate values do not mirror mine and only further convince me that I shouldn't be patronizing their services.

FB and those who choose to now call their disagreement with something as "inappropriate, disrespectful", should mind their own pages and business. Even though they may not wish to see the photos, there are others who feel the opposite. FB should not be responsive to this form of what we now call political correctness, especially if it going to lean in favor of a particular direction. FB should remain "neutral" in all cases (i.e. the hunting photos, political postings, etc). If someone disagrees with what's posted, they have several options 1. Delete the person 2. Delete the post 3. make a comment, engage in ADULT conversation (might be surprised and learn a difffernet viewpoint...imagine that). 4. Remove themselves from FB all together.

A while ago my wife reported inappropriate content to Facebook. It was of two 6 year olds "twerking" in a clearly sexual manner. Facebook left the content online. Clearly Facebook as a private entity is free to leave on, or take off whatever it pleases, but should rename their falsehood of the words "inappropriate content" and replace it with the phrase "we'll do whatever the hell we want".
