My favorite fishing spot is on Lake St Clair behind the old hospital building on Selfridge Air National Guard base. It is quiet and private and I can take my children there fishing and it's a safe and no one will disturb you for most of the day and you can catch Bass sunfish and perch

Company who own the hospital where I live built this wellness complex for the community, it has a running trail, I think 4 volleyball courts, a picnicking area, an outdoor concert amphitheater for special events, and an enormous fishing pond stocked and loaded to the gills with with fish for people to go fishing, and a beach area for people to swim, it’s really nice, check it out.

I love fishing anywhere with my two sons and son-in-law. By far my favorite place is Diamond lake in Eastern Oregon. You can catch many trout averaging 2 pounds each.

My Ugly Stick and I have fished in numerous states. Fishing on a boat is cool, but there's a serenity with fishing on land by a stream or lake. Set up a chair with a cooler and time. All day or all night.

My Favorite fishing area was so long ago right there on the Cumberland River but it has been construction-worked over.I heard there are great spots near the Percy Priest Dam, But No time since I Work long Hour now, maybe after retirement.

Fishing? I fished in the best place a guy or kid could. Northern Alaska. My dad was a power plant manager in a small inupiat eskimo village called Anaktuvuk pass. 75miles north of the artic circle, in gates of the artic national park in the Brooks Range. Ias a 12 year old, I would go fishing in the rivers for arctic char, white fish and grayling. Summer time I used a 4wheeler to get around and always took a rifle. Best summers for a kid period. The water was so clear and since it was on permafrost, you could sneak up on fish in tighter streams look down and see them swimming. I haven't fished since 1987. Haven't found a place like that, add in all the hunting. What would cost a lower 48 hunter $10 grand to hunt moose, cost me nothing. I definitely missed being there.

I'm not much of a fisherman, but once when I lived at a children's home we went to Lake Itasca (headwaters of the Mississippi River), and I caught a 32 lb Muskie with a ten dollar rod & reel, but we had to throw it back because it was to small, it was only 36", and it had to be 39" at the time. All the other kids hated me because they all liked to fish, and I didn't.

I have several good honey holes on the Tennessee river near Chattanooga, I also enjoy fishing in Clarks Hill, lake outside of Augusta. I believe it’s Strom Thurmond Lake now. Some you can walk to and enjoy the serenity, and some require a boat. In most cases a small flat bottom or a canoe.

Fishing has become a spiritual experience for me. I was the oldest grandchild of my mother's parents. I was treated specially because I was the eldest. I was not loved more, please don't get me wrong. I was expected to be the example for all my siblings and cousins, and I did what was expected.

I learned to fish from my grandfather. He bought me my first rod - a short-poled Zebco spincast reel. He gave me my first tackle box. He took me out in a rowboat on the lake near his home, and it was there that I caught my first fish, a small lake perch. I was not even in school then, yet I can vividly remember every detail of that first time.

From that day on, we shared something special. Whenever we could, we would fish together. Freshwater or saltwater, shore or boat, deepwater or shallow. When he died on October 19, 1977, I stopped fishing for a spell. When I returned to Florida after my military service, I went deep sea fishing with my mother's oldest brother. He and I were taught to fish by the same man. As the eldest children of our respective families, we too shared a special bond. I remember we caught 80 snapper that day (no limit at that time). We had a neighborhood fish fry and ate all 160 filets. ‘Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’ And therein lies the spirituality and love.

My favorite Lake is Chickamauga in TN. If you're a bass fishing guy or gal there's none better. Early in the year, March- April are great. Fall, try October.

Being raised around the waters of Long Island, NY fishing has been a way of life. Fishing, claiming, scalloping and lobstering have been a source of not only food but also a great source of relaxation and meditation on how wonderful this planet we live on really is. The most productive fishing spot I've visited was Airplane Bay in Lafitte, LA. 7am to 9am on a Friday morning. 19 Redfish in 2 hours, too bad I could keep only 5.

My favorite fishing spot is at Current Creek reservoir up high in the Utah mountains. I've only caught trout but they are good sized. Eagles, deer and wildlife everywhere. Bring a cooler, binoculars and 5 dollar day use fee.

I have to agree with SN Kristi Kalis, fishing on a boat is cool, but there sure is something special about fishing off the banks. I like it better in salt water fishing. Just sitting back and listening to the waves rolling in, watching your rods move with the waves and BAM!!! Them salt water fish sure do hit hard.

I love this topic, informative and educational. I was born, and raised in Winchester Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley, with a multitude of lakes, ponds, and the Shenandoah river to fish, which I begin at age 6 using a Zebco 101 closed bail, with my dad (retired, Korean combat veteran, 82nd airborne), and my many family members. It's been years, but I may have to break out Mitchell 900 open bails, and rods and get back to enjoying fishing. Thank you for the memories.

for the first time I went out on a charter boat to San Diego to try my luck at shark fishing after three hours I had caught a 500 pound 10 ft. tiger shark , It is stuffed and mounted on an old friends eating joint in North Carolina .

Anytime any place if there is water and fish, that is my favorite spot. I even ice fish but I didn't always enjoy it.
You just have to wonder who the first guy was who thought it was a good idea to chop a hole in a frozen lake so he could sit out in the bitter cold and fish. He must have been either very, very hungry or absolutely insane although I’d understand if you chose C, all of the above. My brother, Jim, talked me into trying it…..Once. He has also talked me into several other things but they are stories for another day. It was on a warm January day in Northern Illinois about ten miles south of the Wisconsin border on Wonder Lake where my parents had a home. A balmy 25-degree winter day with a mild zephyr of wind howling at 25-30 MPH. We packed two sleds with fishing gear, hot coffee and assorted ice fishing “Stuff” and, dressed in the warmest clothes we owned, pulled the sleds a mile or so down the lake to a likely spot to try our luck.
We arrived with little thought to how cold it would feel once we stopped working and sat still for a while. We chopped two holes through a foot or so of ice, upturned a couple of plastic buckets to sit on and began our lesson on the real meaning of “Wind Chill”.
I would have been miserable even without the endless parade of snowmobilers who came by to see just what the heck we were doing. They buzzed by us, around us, and even between us, as we sat and watched the water in the holes refreeze. Some stopped to chat, others to help out as they thought nobody would stay in one place on the ice unless they were in trouble. One guy looked around for our snowmobiles and seeing none asked how we had got out here. I told him we had walked and that seemed to be the funniest thing he had heard in a long time as he laughed, started his snowmobile and drove off shaking his head.
Fortunately we got a lot of helpful advice from the other guys that stopped to talk. We soon discovered that the water here was to shallow and we should move up the lake to deeper water, that’s where the fish were. Another was sure the water here was too deep and we should move down the lake to shallower water near some cover because that’s where the fish were. About the only thing everyone agreed on was that this was a bad spot and we shouldn’t be here! I agreed. After a couple of hours without a bite, no feeling in my fingers or toes, and a case of the shivers that just wouldn’t stop, I told my brother I’d had it and was going in. He marveled that a guy that had been known to spend twelve hours in a boat fishing would quit after only two hours on the ice. I marveled right back that I was surprised that a guy that spent twelve hours in a boat fishing on a warm summer day was to stupid to quit after the first ten minutes on the ice. As we trudged back toward the house, into the wind this time, I made it pretty clear that I hated Ice fishing, ice fishermen, snowmobilers, skaters, Hockey players and, after I lost all feeling in my face, I think I included Ice machines and Zamboni drivers.
That evening I sat on the couch in my living room with a glass of Scotch in one hand, my arm around my wife and my Golden Retriever laying on my frozen feet trying to get warm. I told my wife all about my day and how much I hated Ice Fishing. Then I told her that anyone that claimed to like ice fishing needed to be committed to an institution for the insane. Then I summed it all up for her by swearing off ice fishing forever. I think I may have left the impression that I was not in favor of participating in the sport.
It was several years before I set foot on a frozen lake again. Even then I didn’t go willingly. I was visiting a friend of mine named Ken in Minnesota in February. Why I would go to Minnesota in February is reason enough to question my sanity but I digress. Ken knew I was an avid fisherman and asked if I’d like to spend the day ice fishing with him. The weather forecast called for “Breezy conditions with a high near 20 degrees”. I answered that I didn’t have warm enough clothes with me and had no desire to sit out in the wind and freeze. Ken just gave me a strange look and said nothing. Our wives went off to spend the day shopping and Ken suggested we go for a ride. We climbed in to his truck and to my surprise and shock Ken headed straight for the lake and drove out on the ice. I panicked, grabbed the door handle and prepared to bail out of the truck at the first sign of cracking ice. Ken just laughed and pointed out all the other traffic on the lake. They all seemed to be headed in the same direction we were and in the distance I saw a shantytown that I hadn’t noticed before. Everyone including us seemed to be headed for it so I gritted my teeth and waited for the truck to go through the ice and sink.
“Minnesota winters are long and cold,” Ken said
“We take ice fishing more seriously than you southerners”
The work “southerners” struck me as strange. I grew up in the Chicago area and was living in Iowa at the time. Only a Minnesotian would consider me a “Southerner”
We stopped in front of one of the shanties and Ken suggested I go in while he got the generator going. I stepped out of the truck into the bitter cold and unlocked the door to a small one-room cabin sitting on wood runners. There were no windows so it was dark inside but the light from the open door revealed a single 10’by 12’ room with a carpet covering the floor and a sofa in the middle. Moments later I heard the generator start and the lights went on. I closed the door behind me and walked over to the sofa, in front of it were five trapdoors. Just then Ken walked in, flipped a switch and an electric heater started glowing,
“How do you like my ice shanty “, Ken asked.
I looked around and saw a camp stove on a counter, some cabinets on the walls, and a small television on a shelf in front of the sofa. I went over to the trapdoors and flipped one open to find a hole in the ice with a skim of ice on the top.
“We can seat four” Ken said
“Why five holes”, I asked
“The center one is for beer” ken said as he handed me a short ice fishing rod.
I opened the center trapdoor and found a rope. Pulling it up I found a net holding a six pack of beer attached to it. I sat on the end of the sofa, broke and skimmed the ice from the surface of the hole and dropped my line in.
“Why don’t you just put the beer outside”, I asked
“Then you would have to get up to get it and it would be frozen solid”, Ken answered
“It’s a little cold for beer,” I said
“It won’t be for long” Ken answered.
“Would you like something to warm up with until the heater warms the place up”, Ken asked holding a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in one hand and a bottle of Scotch in the other.
“Don’t mind if I do,” I said reaching for the Scotch.
The TV set came on and a Basketball game was just starting
“I don’t much like Basketball”, I said
“You don’t much like Ice Fishing either” Ken said
“Shut up and fish”.
Soon the shanty was toasty warm, the coat came off and between bites and during commercials I asked Ken about the shanty. It sat on wooden runners so he could pull it onto and off the ice behind his truck. The floor, roof and walls were all insulated and he was planning to replace the electric heater with a propane model to reduce the load on the generator. He got four to five months use from it and considered it a better investment than his camper that he only used a few weeks a year.
We came in late, the women had already gone to bed and I tiptoed into our room and crawled into bed. The next morning my wife asked what Ken and I had done that kept us out so late.
“Ice Fishing” I mumbled
“Ice Fishing?” she exclaimed
“You hate Ice Fishing”
“Me?” I asked
“Who told you that? I love Ice Fishing, always have”.
She looked at me skeptically
“So, did you catch any fish?”
“Yeah, we caught a few but, it isn’t about catching fish. It’s about the entire outdoor experience, communing with nature, male bonding, man against the elements”.
“He had beer didn’t he”, she said
“And good Scotch too”, I added
“Your outdoor adventures always seem to go better when there’s Beer”, she said.
“And Scotch” I replied.

Love to fish live about 2 miles from Lake Lewisville Texas we love to camp and fish I have a 30 ft Keystone trailer and a 18 ft boat only problem is this year waiting surgery on both feet and right ankle can't hardly get in and out of boat which is the pits. VA screwed up paperwork three times so far trying to get it done have seen 2 different civilian surgeons hoping this time paperwork is right

Used to live in Everett WA. But retired to AR. Ya, it gets hot. But I was able to buy a home on a beautiful river. BTW it leads to big water. Never could have afforded waterfront in WA. In AR disabled vets don't have to pay property taxes, and many other taxes are reduced or zeroed out. I have 30+ lb stripers rolling off my dock in the fall. Bass and crappie all over the place. Or I can just watch the sun reflect and sparkle off the water. Never though I'd find heaven but here it is.

Is anyone having [problems getting Disability from VA for Agent Orange exposure? I sent them a letter that I was stationed aboard an Aircraft Carrier and that our planes and Hekos brought Agent Orange back to the ship so we didn't need to have Boots on the Ground. After 17 years I am still waiting for my disability.

Loving near the largest man-made lake in the South gives e so many places to drop a line it's almost not even a sport anymore BWAHAHAHAHA...but what I love most is going on post with the grandbabies and watching them fish in the kids only stocked pond. The sheer excitement in their eyes with each catch is worth dealing with the heat

Lord, I haven't been fishing in nearly 60 years. My Dad used to take me fishing on the Galveston piers. We lived in Houston, so it was a fair drive. The best part was always breakfast at the Waffle House. Then he'd buy a package of shrimp bait, and we'd stand on the pier wondering what was nibbling on the bait.

Then, one day, he asked me if I actually enjoyed fishing. It sounded like an honest question, so I said no, I didn't really enjoy it. He allowed as how he didn't either, and neither of us liked getting up at the ungodly hour necessary to be on the pier at sunrise, so we dumped the remaining bait into the bay and went home. That was the last time either of us ever went fishing.

Before I hurt my back, I regularly fished Bass Tournaments at least twice if not 3 times a month. Won quite a bit of $$$ doing this , but it is truly an expensive Hobby to have and I tried as hard as possible to make it to the Pro level. But just couldn't devote enough time to it, raising a family and working full time as well.

I really miss living in the lake Tahoe area because there were so may places to fish within an hours drive of my home. So many great memories of fishing there with my kids, hubby, mom and step dad. But had to move to the Sacramento area because my ass is too old to deal with the snow anymore. Oh well!

The coolest place I ever got to fish was in South Korea. I had never fly fished before. I hired a guide recommended by USO of all things. He had grown up In Montana and had a Korean wife. He was not prior service. But this guy knew his $h(t! I wish for the life of me I could remember his name.

Difficulty of elderly homeless veterans and civilians, opinion of a ole fool. Wondering about politician, disregard for citizens and apparently love affairs with illegal immigrants. Talks with both civilian and vamc reps, results just polite words, civilians had to gear up for illegals at request of federal government. How do Americans get laws back, that back us up, by prosecuting criminals across the board, when it comes to our Police and their "CODE" and the same with Politicians and Elite wealthy that "Can't be Touch by our LAWS" If not the Right to Bear Arms when our government obviously stopped serving the people to create a New Civil war then; where is the POLICIES talking about what our government can and can't do, and when American Citizens need to weigh in and have emergency Voting rights on what should happen to said...DIRTY POLITICIANS. To help regain democratic equality within our country....again its not racial, thats what they want you to believe to distract us from what they are really up to. This is pure ignorance and greed taking over our country and lying and implementing these sinister plans that are tearing our country to pieces, so there are a lot less people to overthrow what they are attempting to accomplish, and making it easier for them to pick up the pieces and fix and mold them into WHAT THEY WANT. I think my favorite fishing trip was at the pier on Camp LeJune N.C. First time salt water fishing for a man from the Midwest. I have fished in both the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers.

Serving in a branch of the military in the United States is not mandatory but, is in some countries. Now, I don’t think America could ever pull something like that off but, how about educating citizens about this? I don’t recall knowing much about this or even the benefits of service when I was in high school. Knowing then what I know now may not change anything but, if I was educated about the benefits of serving I might have made different choices. I’m just saying that our education system should help bolster students for success by better informing them of their own possibilities.

I love crabbing down in camron Louisiana. What is the best crab bait. We use a string with a chicken neck. Add shrimp, potatoes,garlic,lemons &crab boil spice,and let er boil! The smell is awesome!

So the big freeze back in February / March this year took out my engine in a 2001 chevy blazer. I lost lubrication do to the cold, and overheated. I thought it was just the head gasket and a bent valve the way it acted before going, but #5 piston doesn't raise to the top of the cylinder like the rest. So I need a rebuild, rebuilt or new engine. Would love to get another car....oh wait I did that too. I bought an auction car, my mistake, too much pressure at the time, it looked good and ran, but soon found out there was no coolant, and the reservoir was dry rotted. Long story short a 2007 volvo s4 I picked up also has a blown head gasket. Does anybody have any references to a new or used engine or a running inspect able car that has AC. I gotta get back to work.

I was looking at going back to the US because Chile has gotten so bad but after watching some news from the States I think it would be like hoping out of the frying pan into the oven.

Well being as I don't know what the original question was/is I'll have to pass on that one. As a matter of fact I don't know where to even look for a question, not a big fan of this modern technology. It sucks to spend 30 years learning about computers only to have them throw a monkey wrench at us like this windows 10! What a screwed up mess of nothing to try and learn. Tried to save a file, only to be told I don't have permission, or I am not authorized, or some other type of pogeybait that tells me they moved it or renamed it or some other crap meaning they don't know what they did with it. It makes me feel like they're just too lazy to look for it or admit to their boss they screwed up. And you can't go back to an earlier system that we all seemed to know pretty well, now I don't know squat and don't really care anymore, gonna throw this thing in the river and forget it.

I really love to support veteran owned businesses. But you have to be smart and trust your gut. Mike Glover with Fieldcraft is trash. They constantly try to take advantage of these f*cking weekend warriors why haze zerp knowledge. Fieldcraft was actually having a carbine course super close to where I live, but we all passed. Travis Kennedy is a f*cking beast so we all went to him, instead of Fieldcraft. Glover should probably focus on his company and not run his mouth about how he was 18 series. A lot of people are retired 18 series. By far the worst customer service that I have received. All the best Patriots-
