I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI. If you are thinking about contracting and you want to be in management then it is a very good certificate to have because most contracts want it even if you are not in that position. Get the military to pay for it. It is time consuming as you need minimum hours to apply and the test is not easy.

Great post - check out working for the US Government as a civilian. There are project manager jobs in many agencies. Check it out on usajobs.gov. You will get veterans preference.
