First, the USAF International Affairs Specialist (IAS) program is the Air Force equivalent of the Foreign Area Officer (FAO) in other military service branches; IAS is divided into the Regional Affairs Strategist (RAS) and Political-Military Affairs Strategist (PAS), RAS officers are typically those with foreign language experience/expertise, PAS officers are gained for a breadth of experience and are typically a bit further along in their careers than their RAS counterparts. Here's a link to the official SAF/IA website with recent information on the program: http://www.safia.hq.af.mil/internationalaffairsspecialist/
I hope that this information is helpful, if you have any questions that would be helpful for the group, please post for discussion. Thanks for posting the topic thread, this can definitely come in handy for folks seeking opportunities in the program!
