I'm not sure if you are also in need of the material necessities of life, but both the Salvation Army and the Red Cross are wonderful in that regard. If you are not a member, I encourage you to join USAA, the military's private banking, insurance, and financial planning organization. They may prove to have some sort of "fund" available to Vets in need of a loan. About that, I have no idea, but they would be my first place to check. Good luck, sir.

The DAV, VFW and/or American Legion also has some sort of emergency relief fund.

You can also contact the VFW, beyond the yellow ribbon. Just do a Google search for organizations that provides financial assistance to Veterans. If you are Post 911 contact the Wounded Warrior Project help line.

Robert, are you a retired veteran? If so you may be able to get assistance from AER, as you are close to Patrick AFB, you might be able to contact someone there who may be able to assist.

Try the various organizations that support the Military in your area. Check with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Home front, VFW or American Legion. Get in contact with your VSO and see what they have available to help you.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. I contacted a few churches for food donations and a couple of them inquired about Christmas present possibilities for my children. A couple of months later I was surprised by a gift package from one of the organizations with a ham, some side dishes and a few presents for each of my two daughters.

I suggest that you reach out to some of the local churches. Donate your time, if you feel that you must somehow "pay" for your charity.

There are many local agencies that help veterans. I suggest checking with your local VA or Service group. Also try military one source.

A lot of "Vet" help organizations can be reached through your County Veterans' Office. (Anyone can jump in and correct me if I'm wrong on this.)

Depends on what kind of financial help you are looking for. If you're a retiree and need a loan, go to the nearest AER office. I did so a few months ago to help with some major auto repairs. Definitely a blessing to have the option.

I will post something which may or may not apply. If you were injured or collect any VA disability for a post 9/11 injury, contact Wounded Warrior Project and they will provide you with steps to becoming a WWP Alumni. WWP has a plethora of resources from the private sector versus federal programs. Good luck.

There are programs in place where you can get temporary pay while your claim is being decided and they will also fast track the process if the individual is unable to work while waiting.

Your county Veterans Service Office should have some idea of what kinds of financial support exist in your state. This is a great place to start.

I hope you filled a intent to file with the VA prior to sending in the paperwork. If you did it puts a pin in the calendar and if you win your claim, the VA will give you back pay so the way back to that intent to file date
