What do you NEED the dog to do? And what KIND of advice are you looking for?? Service org's that provide them and training, Or type of dog and what purpose for the dog?
There is 2 types of service dogs. A) A TRUE service dog performs specific tasks, alerts to medical events, seeing eye dog, Facilitates mobility, etc etc,,, that sort of thing. Along with that comes specific rights, responsibilities and legal issues.
B) A THERAPY Dog is a totally different thing, they can be incredibly beneficial & helpful, but not a service dog. 2 different things altogether. There is specific legal issues related to them as well.

As to your situation, location, lifestyle, housing issues etc etc and then your personality and activity,, then people would benefit greatly as well as the animal getting a dog suited to you.
Drives me nuts seeing people with animals that are a poor match.

This is my new puppy,,,
