There were 4 of us that played together. One of the guy's Dad was head grounds keeper at a new course near our home (we all lived in same neighborhood). Each evening he would tell us what green he would be starting on the next morning, which would be the hole we would start play. Always hoped for the back 9 so we would be on the course before the proshop started calling tee times. When we finished 18 we would just keep going until it either got too hot or we all had enough. One guy was into bodybuilding, because of football. (my highschool did not promote weight training) So basically I worked out for 50 or more years but in the last few years I have learned what happens to shoulders, knees, (especially knees) when you proceed without proper technique training. I have never used supplements. But these days my knees are basically mush. I remember one day when I was around 40 I was at the gym with my son working squats on a Smith Machine. I was doing reps at 600# and this youngster about 19 came on the machine and did three sets like I had just done but he did one more rep in each set. Not to be out done I then loaded an additional 6 plates (300#) and proceed to do 3 sets of 10. About half way through the final set I felt a horrible pain in one knee. The rest is history. I continued trying to rehab the knee but it has never been the same. My doctor diagnosed as something that I can't even begin to recall. Basically it translated to my knee cap is now unsupported on one side and has moved to a new location where it does not belong. Maybe I should think about a joint health supplement. I just recently resigned my gym membership. I've been using a "mega" blend from Vitacost for quite a while and I'm happy with it. My wife is a dietitian and it's one of the few supplements she takes. Granted she eats a whole lot better than I do so she doesn't need to supplement with much.
