The only constant in a military family is the family itself. This can be good and bad. If you want to be part of a community, you have to put yourself and your talents out there. Get involved at the school, fire department and a local church. It takes awhile as most of the people in small/non military towns are related and have difficulty accepting new people. Be welcoming to new people as they are experiencing the same thing, but will become your best friends. Having been a military brat: I experienced this, but as a military member, the above solutions do work.
