Can anyone tell me why President Obama never made am effort to secure the release of SGT Tahmooressi from a jail cell in Mexico and yet he traded five terrorists for one traitor?

I'm sure it is "so complicated" that it is best if the administration just doesn't bother to explain it to us little people....lol

I'm beginning to think that the smartest person in the Obama administration would be SGT. Schultz from Hogan's Heroes..."I Know Nothing" Sorry for the insult SGT Schultz...

Who is to say he didn't?
One of the complications in dealing with Mexico is that if we expect them to respect our due process, we have to respect theirs.
Intentionally or not, the good SGT broke laws and treaties and they needed to be addressed in an appropriate manner.
Now people are getting bent out of shape over the Bergdhal/Tahmooressi comparison. One spent 5 years, the other spent 8 months. One lived under a very real risk of being killed on a daily basis, the other had three hots and a cot. So, who did he bring home "first"? Who's life was truly endangered?
We really need to get over which dumbass was being dumber at the time they screwed the pooch and just be glad they both are home and safe so they can get their particular variation of dumbass cured.

People seem to forget there is a very real consequence for political actions. Back in the day it was understood that giving in to terrorist demands would enbolden terrorist to target american citizens abroad for kidnappings and such. Sovereignty of countries have to be respected also. You can't just "demand" that a country do what you want them too, and be able to maintain proper diplomatic relationships. We also have to bear in mind, that we don't work for the state department... so none of us have a clue about what steps were taken to secure his release.
