May a wedding ring be worn on your identification tags while on active duty?

Does a wedding ring or a leather/silicone spacer count as ''and so on"?

I'm sure it's fine.
I would worry more about the chain breaking and not being able to recover the ring.

Silicone rings are very popular for wear in these situations.

Personally, I wouldn't trust my wedding ring to a chain that has the penchant for snapping from nothing more than a hard look. Any time I knew I would be performing duties where jewelry was restricted, I would just leave my ring(s) at home. Now I just wear one of the silicone rings and it isn't an issue either way.

Just make sure you have personal property insurance to cover the ring when the chain snaps. If you HAVE to have your ring near you, throw it in your shoulder pocket and zip it all the way up.

Yes... But... My experience is that in situations where it is unsafe to wear a ring, that a dog tag chain is not something to depend upon. The Dog tags are flat and unlikely to catch. A ring...?!?.

I farm now. My wife works with me on the farm. The rings come out of the jewelry box when we put on our best overalls and spray the manure off the boots for an evening of fine dining and God Awful Karaoke at the local bar.

After seeing and treating my first degloving in the Emergency Dept. my wedding band went into the jewelry box, and that is where it has stayed.

The one on the right is how I carried mine around for 10 years or so. As a mechanic could not wear in shop. My chain did break once but fortunately my ring got trapped in my flak vest and I found it when It fell out one night.

I wore it there all of my career due to working with engines and electricity. They tell you cover it with tape but that won't keep it from ripping your finger off if it gets caught on a moving mechanical part.

Generally in a situation where a ring shouldn't be worn, neither should ID tags, so that's the last place I'd put it. I wear a silicone ring because working on aircraft you should never have a regular ring on anyway and my ID tags are more often than not in my left shoulder pocket unless it is formation time or PT.

In 69, on Anderson AFB Guam, airmen were restricted to were their wedding rings while on duty.
Due to an airman wearing his wedding ring, jumped at a stop sign to see if he could touch the top of the sign.
His ring caught the top edge of the stop sign as he came down, the ring then cut off his wedding ring finger.
It just shows that one person can effect all the others on base, for being careless.

If you are putting it on there to take it off because your duties prohibit wear of rings and watches, like maintainers, there are better strategies. I got a locking D ring caribiner and put my my keys and wedding ring on it. Just put it in my pocket.

Most of the time we didn’t wear the tags around our neck, rather looped around our belt loop nearest our pocket and run into our pocket as a matter of unit SOP. Had a guy at my first assignment arc off a vehicle electrical system and his dangling tags.

Last thing I’d depend on is a dog tag chain
